Recently my daughter returned home from a work trip and brought me these mini houses she found at Target as my souvenir! How cute are these? Let’s see what I can do with them!

painting and “staining” our mini houses
When my daughter brought these home and gifted them to me, I knew I wanted to have some fun with these!
First I grabbed my Black wax and lint free rag and started rubbing wax over two of the mini houses to “stain” them.
I love this technique of using wax to stain unfinished wood, it’s quick and easy and less messy!
Then I grabbed a clean paint brush and brushed Dixie Belle’s Cotton over one of the houses and then wiped back the excess to give it a white washed look.
I like this so much I decided to complete this look on the remaining of my mini houses!
Once these were dry, it’s time to move on to adding the decorations!
embellishing our mini houses
I discovered in Hobby Lobby they have a miniature doll house section and this is where I found the mini wreaths.
Then I went to the unfinished wood section at Hobby Lobby and came across mini stars!
I was set!
Since my wreaths were too green, here in Iowa we usually have snow on the ground in February, I decided to flock them!
I grabbed my Cotton paint and started pouncing point onto the evergreen leaves.
Then I decided to paint my wood stars in Muscadine Wine by Dixie Belle.
When these were all dry it’s was time to glue them on!
I first arranged my mini houses the way I think I’ll display them on a shelf and started arranging my wreaths and stars on the houses to get the arrangement I liked before hot gluing them on.
And that was it!
Simple and easy, if I come across more of these mini houses elsewhere I’ll be sure to share!
I would love to make another set for this spring or summer too!
