Time to spread some joy
I love cruising the aisle of Hobby Lobby looking for things I can craft with or make!
The holiday craft section towards the back is one of my favorites and where I found these JOY wood blocks ready to craft with!
I already have paint supplies and Mod Podge at home so I went to the scrapbook aisle and looked for some pretty Christmas-y paper.
Let’s Craft!
The very first step, is to paint the JOY blocks.
I applied two coats of Dixie Belle’s Cotton to the back and sides of my wood letter blocks.
Once this paint was dry, I then applied a coat of Mod Podge the front of the J and Y and then laid them down on the back of the scrapbook paper.
I then used my Cricut craft knife and cut around them.
Once the Mod Podge was dry, I then used the craft knife to cut closer to the wood letters and then lightly sand around the letters with sandpaper or sand block to clean the edges up better.
Dixie Belle’s Sea Spray
For the O, I wanted to add some texture and sparkle!
I am notorious for not following the directions on the Sea Spray package but it is not hard!
First I poured about 1 to 2 ounces of Dixie Belle Cotton in a disposable bowl, then I add maybe a tablespoon of Sea Spray and stirred with a tongue depressor until they were combined.
If you want more texture or thicker paste, add more Sea Spray.
Otherwise if it’s too thick, add a little more paint.
I then dabbed the Sea Spray paint mixture on the front side of the O.
Once this was dry I decided to add more sparkle.
Last year when I was painting my Christmas Trees I came across Laser Iridescent Paste at Hobby Lobby,
I found this in the acrylic paint section near the canvas aisle.
You can either use a paint brush or a spatula to apply this to your projects.
I ended up adding 2 coats of this paste and I love how it turned out.
Apply two coats of Dixie Belle’s Sealer in Flat to the J and Y and when this is all dry, you are ready to decorate!
