Practice, Practice, Practice
I love all those faded stripe furniture pieces I am seeing on Facebook that was started by Tracey’s Fancy.
Since I have no room to paint furniture, I decided to practice painting faded stripe on a smaller project.
Second time is a Charm
As you’ll see in the video below, my first attempt did not turn out the way I expected it.
When the paint dried, I used my 220 grit sand block and sanded the inside of my saucer down again.
Then I repainted the entire saucer in Midnight Sky.
Once the saucer was dry, I applied frog tape in a striped pattern across the top half down inside saucer.
Then I used a stencil brush and pounced Hurricane Gray in the middle area of the saucer.
I pounced and worked my way out with Hurricane Gray until I got a pattern I liked.
I then removed the frog tape.
When the paint was dry, I softened some of the areas where the tape marks that were left behind with more Midnight Sky.
My first faded stripe project is almost complete and time to add a little transfer and stamps decor.
I love Lemonade and I used this to stencil with a script font I purchased form Amazon called Folklore Script.
Instead of using the whole stencil, I just pounced in a tilted pattern for a whimsy look.
Next, I added a IOD lemon transfer just off the side of the inside of the saucer.
Then I added an IOD Bumble Bee stamp to the other side using Lemonade.
When the paint was dry, I then added Dixie Belle’s White Wax all over.
Wax seals my project, but it also toned down the darker colors and made my project look more aged.
Adding wax also gives my projects a soft buttery feel that I love after I buffed the wax with a lint free cloth.
That is it!
Once I finish painting my house, I can start decorating and find a home for her in my decor!
